About the Congress
The tourism activity is one of the economic engines of the country. Thus, approximately the 12% of the country's wealth (and of the economically active population) is employed in tourism-related activities. In this sense, studies are needed to understand the motivations of tourists from spain, and how they have evolved over the past few years. However, from 2020, and as a result of the pandemic, there is a point break that has affected the tourism world and way significant to the Spanish. This implies a new profile of tourism consumers, it is necessary to define for the different destinations and offer learn to give a response to this new type of traveller. Thus, awareness of this new typology of tourists is indispensable to revive the tourism in Spain.
In terms of Melilla, the Autonomous City contributed to the wealth of the country for about 1.620 million euros in 2019, which accounted for 0.1% of the total. A successful promotion of tourism in Melilla, supported by an increase in infrastructure could lead to the city to an increase in both the level of employment and wealth associated with the tourist activity.
